Welcome to PHYNXFITNESS.

Hello, I’m Asya.

In my early life, I was very prone to injury. It’s not that I was clumsy at all, just unable to perform “normal” tasks and movements comfortably. I was surrounded by medical resources, as my Dad is a Physical Therapist and my Mom is an RN. Still, it seemed the only answer I was given was that I was “a little double-jointed and probably just need to toughen up.” We didn’t stop looking for the right answers. A few years passed, and I gave up Fencing and moved on to Competitive Figure Skating, where I found I excelled in the flexibility portion but also had the record for most injuries in a year. Through Figure Skating, I found out about a condition called Hyper Mobile Joint Disorder. I was tested and diagnosed with moderate to severe Ehlers-Danlos. There is not much treatment, and at only thirteen, this was hard to accept. I tried to overcome and continue my journey in skating, but after more than fifty joint dislocations in just a few years, it became apparent that was not my path. But leaving that behind was disappointing.

When I found a gym about six months later, it was not perfect right away. I definitely had some setbacks physically and mentally. More dislocations, more days off. In a few weeks, I found my trainer. They helped me through the first steps and helped me see what it means to be truly passionate about something. However, my journey didn’t end there. In the first year of my training, things were difficult, to say the least. Watching everyone surpass me when I was putting in so much extra time just to get to where they started was hard, but it taught me an important lesson. I cannot be compared to others. I am the only one single me, and nobody else has lived my life. Through the last seven years, I’ve dedicated my life to learning how to work smart as well as hard to accomplish my goals faster and healthier. I’ve taken a deep dive into nutrition, hormone balance, and customizing plans for specific needs through being vegan, pescatarian, trying a traditional bodybuilder diet, and now eating a personalized animal-based diet. I didn’t want to be on any prescription medication for pain or mental health struggles, so I had to find an alternative through diet and supplements. I’ve found that there are ways to cure the problem from the source instead of just covering a symptom.

I’ve been privileged in the past eight years I’ve spent on my own training. In the seven years I’ve been able to share my experiences and knowledge to transform clients, friends, and family. It’s been the most rewarding and life-changing endeavor I’ve ever experienced. It is my greatest accomplishment to be able to share my knowledge and guide others in the ways I’ve learned to guide myself. I went from being weak, not being able to walk without pain, and dislocating joints constantly to having more mobility than most and being able to lift hundreds of pounds with ease. I believe everyone is capable of rising from the ash and growing to be more than what our minds are capable of comprehending.
